Sleeps up to 20 people in 9 bedrooms.
Pekes is a fine and interesting 15th Century pre-Tudor manor house, Grade II Listed, with many original and period features. There are four bathrooms, a large wood-panelled dining room, a beautiful old kitchen with an Aga, and a sitting room. It has a large private garden space, with a huge lawn ending in enormous yew topiary ducks.
The Manor is our largest, oldest and most historic house. It is on three floors, with oak beam ceilings, panelled rooms, and many beautiful pieces of furniture and interesting pictures. Approached up an old brick path guarded by yews, the picturesque porch opens into an oak-panelled Hall with a beautiful 16th century fireplace. From there you enter the large wood-panelled dining room, with polished wood floor, which has a cosy open fireplace at one end and a large dining table that seats 12, but can be extended to seat up to 26 comfortably. Beyond that there is a comfortable TV room, a kitchen annex for preparing food and washing up (with two sinks, electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and large fridge freezer), and finally the large fully-equipped picturesque old kitchen with its original brick floor, oak beams, a huge old working open fireplace, a four-door oil fired Aga and a microwave, with seating for at least 12 people. The kitchen has its own entrance door and looks out over beautiful countryside. There is a WC with facilities for the disabled off the front hall.
Access to the upper floors is by front and back stairs.
The First Floor has 5 charming bedrooms:
- The oak-panelled double bedroom with a 4’ (1.2 m) 4-poster double bed
- The Seasons twin bedroom with two 3’3” (1 m) single beds
- The black and white twin bedroom with two 3’ (91 cm) single beds, as well as a folding Z bed.
- The small corner double bedroom with a 4’6” (1.37 m) Zip&Lock double bed (making 2 x 2’3” singles if required)
- The annexed double bedroom with a 4’6” double bed (1.37m) and a small adjoining room with a 3’ (91 cm) divan that can also be used as a dressing or ironing room.
- All bedrooms are accessed by a long corridor, with a bathroom at one end with a bath, basin and WC, and at the other one a bathroom with bath, basin and WC basin and another one with electric shower, basin and WC.
The Second Floor has 3 bedrooms:
- The Old Nursery. A double bedroom with a 4’6” (1.37m) Zip&Lock double bed (making 2 x 2’3” singles if required) and a 3’ (91 cm) divan.
- The Night Nursery. A smaller twin bedroom with two 3’ (91 cm) beds.
- The Nannies room. A twin bedroom with two 3’ (91 cm) beds and a 3’ (91 cm) divan.

An Amazing Experience
“I stayed here for two nights for my 30th Birthday weekend and can honestly say it was a dream come true. The house is amazing, incredible, jaw dropping. I loved every minute and I’m so happy I decided Pekes Manor for my Birthday celebrations.”

We Love Pekes Manor
“We held my Mum’s 60th Party at Pekes Manor in February – we had the Manor house, The Wing, The Gate Cottage and Tudor View. It was amazing! I have been to Pekes Manor before and stayed in various houses and keep coming back (I held my sister’s hen do in the Oast House two years ago). It is beautiful, charming, steeped in history and such an amazing place to host an event or come for a weekend away from real life. For this party we had some caterers come in so it was a bigger event than I normally do and Kildare and his team were incredibly accommodating and made everything super easy. My Mum and her friends went for walks, runs, played in the pool and generally had the most wonderful weekend. I couldn’t recommend staying here more.”

Amazing Manor with Great Character
“Kildare kept us well informed and made the booking process easy, particularly as we had just had another booking cancel on us just a week before. The facilities were brilliant and the pictures do not so the grounds justice.”

A Truly Exceptional Experience
“Living in this 15th century Manor is out of this world. We hosted a party for 50 family and friends (plus two dogs) over a weekend, taking over the Manor, Wing, Oast and Garden Cottage. No question was too complicated for Kildare and Jilly. They helped in every way possible to advise on our plans. The indoor heated swimming pool with its perimeter of plants was very popular. The oak panelled dining room (which accommodated us all in three rows of trestles) was simply wonderful. No photos do this place justice. The views across the Weald are superb. The Manor bedrooms, with incredibly comfortable beds, were so well furnished with antiques that each had a special charm of its own. We walked to the quaint local pub, The Six Bells, at Chiddingly. The facilities are superb and easily accommodate mass catering.”
“None of us wanted to leave. We’d love to repeat the experience – preferably every weekend!”
